Delta Power Equipment

Stanley Black and Decker recently announced the impending sale of their Delta Brand to Chang Type Industrial Co. Ltd (TOTY). TOTY is a Taiwanese company that currently produces many benchtop tools for Stanley Black & Decker, Craftsman and Ryobi.

Tools Plus and Delta have had a long standing relationship dating back to the early 1980′s. Eric Savelle, President of Tools Plus, has been in discussions with the current and new management team, including Bryan Whiffen who will help head this new manufacturing and distribution facility located in Anderson County, South Carolina.

Eric commented “Our talks went really well and I feel that this progression of events is a good thing for the Delta Woodworking machinery brand. While other retailers have seemed to push away from Delta lately, I believe in the Brand (and its massive count of loyal Delta customers dating back approximately 3/4 of a Century) and expect the future to be bright. The fact that they reached out directly and (besides announcing the Sale) asked very good questions and listened to my answers just enforces my expectations that this new ownership is the best news to come out of Woodworking Machinery-land in years.”

Chang Type Industrial Co. will be investing over $3.6 million, according to the South Carolina Department of Commerce, in this facility and is expected to create 40 jobs which is all good news for not only South Carolina but the United States. The official press release advised:

“The new facility will allow Delta Power Equipment to continue its tradition of providing top-notch woodworking equipment to our customers. We look forward to establishing our new operations in Anderson County,” Whiffen says in the press release. “South Carolina provided us with the positive business environment and market access we were looking for when deciding where to locate. We appreciate all the support we have received from state and local officials.”
